Playing the game at Crisler has a big impact, obviously (Ken Pom also has michigan by 5). But I wonder how much of a home court advantage Michigan will have, since the semester is over and their blue hair alums usually like to sit on their hands.
FWIW, Ken Pom has Michigan at #58 and Oakland at #74.
In terms of RPI, Oakland is 50 and Michigan is 76.

Holy crap, it's like getting in the pentagon to post here.
So, was that one of the better jobs done on Benson this year ... for a half at least?

We played horribly. It was like we we're sleepwalking out there, except Hamilton & Hudson at some points. Michigan didn't play well, but we just missed shots from everywhere & free throws. I normally don't say this, but the officiating was horrid on both ends. I like some physical games, but this was just a dirty game, guys pushing & shoving, etc. It was embarrassing. I know OU is better then that, but we didn't show it today.
We talk alot about local media attention, but we're not gonna get anymore if we can't perform vs the in state schools like UM. Once we begin to do that, then I think ppl will pay more attn. We can't just get up for the MSU games only...I don't understand truly??? We are so much better then the way we played. I also know that U of M wanted to prove they we're better then us, it was a pride thing...There's alot more I could say, but I'll just stop.

Yeah, you guys obviously didn't play your best game and shot like hell outside of one guy. Not sure why you didn't bring the press earlier, but I imagine fatigue was an issue coming off the Tennessee game.
Thought we did a good job on Benson and made you settle for 3's early, but that opened up the ability to drive in the 2nd and you all started scoring more consistently.
Not a pretty game, but every one of our opponents with a message board has said the same thing, Michigan does make the opposition play an ugly game and almost get into the 3 point game with them. Has worked well so far and we almost tripped up Cuse with it.
Anyhow, good luck the rest of the way! LLP has a ton of ability, hope Kampe can bring it out of him next year.

Wow, that was disappointing. Our guys missed a great chance to make a statement about how far OU's program has progressed.
Hudson, Hamilton and Benson played decently. Everybody else was two-for-twentysomething.
Oh well. They'll learn from this. Three more games next week. Let's welcome them home on Monday.
P.S. -- Followed the team bus home from Ann Arbor. Surprised it didn't miss the exit.

Just got back from the game (and a postgame family thing). Depressing all the way around.
I thought Benson was asleep today, in addition to Michigan doing a great job of collapsing in the paint and daring other Grizzlies to step up. They did a good job of denying the entry pass, but Benson just didn't seem to fight for position. At all. At least that's how it looked from where I sat. Then when he got the entry pass and was doubled, it seemed like the ball was covered in grease for him. He also seemed to play lazy defense, allowing their guards to get to the rim and then whiffing on the block attempt. I hope the NBA scouts lose the tape of this game.
In the end, you have to give credit to Beilein's team. They were more than ready to play. We were off, but a big part of that was us being taken completely out of our offensive sets.
Humbling experiences like this are probably good in the long run, but this one still hurts too much for that to be any consolation.

Regarding cza's point: yes, that was a good defensive job against Benson. He looked terrible. Unless he was physically ill going into the game, Michigan should get credit for disrupting his rhythm.

I just got back from the game, Germane and you took the words out of my mouth. Benson looked gassed in the second half. On many possessions he didn't even bother to flash to the ball and fight for position. I counted at least 4 times that Michigan's guards got penetration and he was either late or not getting to the basket at all to contest the shot. This team really needs Maynard back. They got nothing from Valentine and in the last 10 minutes everyone was holding their shorts from being winded. I'm gonna chalk this one up to the whole team being tired of being on the road the past month, but I was really disappointed today.
