Fantastic. A victory at ORU is always a quality victory. From the point where the teams were tied 50-50, OU played clutch basketball. Consider the things OU overcame: Morrison's monster game, Wright's apparent injury, and the turmoil surrounding Drew Maynard. Let's give props to Will Hudson for his 20-10 night and to Drew Valentine for that clutch three-point shot in the closing minute. Yowzer. Fixed it for ya !!!

Very happy with this win. I actually expected us to lose this. I didn't see ORU losing 2 straight at home, and 2 straight to Oakland at home either. I have nothing to complain about!!

All good writers need good editors. Thanks for the fix.
I guess Maynard is on my mind ... but it's VALENTINE who played two beautiful games on the road trip. Six-for-six from the floor tonight, including a sweet dunk in the first half and that smooth three with 1:14 to play that gave OU a seven-point lead.

Other than the OU tweet that reported Larry Wright was a little banged up, what else do we have on his injury and the prospects for playing at home next week?
I checked all the usual sites this morning. Coach Kampe is widely quoted about being happy to score 85 points without his point guard ... and astonishingly, none of the stories follow up with info about Wright's status.

Im gonna guess that since he made the trip, and was dressed for the game its nothing too serious. He tweaked his knee against Ohio State, maybe its still bothering him.

Still too many unforced errors/turnovers in this game for my taste, but I am super happy with how they responded to ORU's run. Like blackandgold I am very enthused by Valentine's play. Perhaps an Eackles-like run going into the conference season? Also, cannot give enough praise to Will for his play tonight. He has come unbelievably far in his 4 years and creates an extremely difficult front court conundrum for SL teams to deal with.
ORU is a PROGRAM and they are always a challenge no matter who they are missing or how young they are. Bottomline: good win on the road, now back to the O where we are always strong.
I am also surprised that we have received no word about Larry Wright. He did play 23 minutes versus Centenary, so I am guessing that Kampe felt it was safe to play him sparingly against ORU. Remember, we held the lead pretty much wire-to-wire, so we don't know how Kampe would have reacted had it been close early. When it got close late putting in a banged up and cold Larry Wright would have most likely done more harm than good.
That said, I am by no means sad to see Bader starting!

Here's a game story from the Tulsa World: www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/article.aspx?subjectid=2&articleid=20101231_95_B1_TeOaoe993875Of note: With five NBA scouts watching, the Grizzlies' 6-foot-11 senior Keith Benson had 20 points, 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. Junior forward Will Hudson chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Grizzlies won on the boards 40-29. Glad to see the scouts are still coming out even in Summit play (and I hope someone from the Spurs was there! Having visions of Robinson->Duncan->Keith Benson and the George Hill connection). I remember someone postulating before the season that maybe Hudson could get some looks with a breakout year, and I honestly didn't think we'd see him putting up these kind of numbers with the effort level so far. I know he is kind of a tweener and might not have the athletic gifts for NBA, but maybe Hudson is on his way to at the very least getting a Summer League invite. If both he and Benson are out there this summer, I might just have to visit Las Vegas for the first time lol.

Now ORU fans can gripe about injuries. From SDSU's beat writer:
This just in: Oral Roberts star Dominique Morrison is out 2-3 weeks with a knee injury. That means he won't be in Brookings on Saturday.
