Rimwrecker: I actually hadn't seen the news about Jordan Williams before making the post about Ivan Johnson. When you get news about Benson or the Hawks, please post it here. Otherwise some important stuff will probably fall through the cracks and not get mentioned.
For the record, I want more than anything for Benson to land a roster spot, and the departure of Jordan Williams is hopefully a good step in that direction. Fingers crossed.

The fact that he's not listed on their homepage roster can't be a good sign. But I know these things can change often in preseason. I'm somewhat surprised Boston hasn't been an option yet. They're so thin up front they signed Darko.

Hawks had their first preseason game yesterday. No real minutes or stats for Kito. Not a good sign.

Looks like a really efficient performance from Benson Wednesday night. He scored 10 points in 10 minutes (on 5-8 shooting) in the Hawks' 101-99 loss: espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=400400481Also looks like Johan Petro had a lackluster night, which could be good news for Benson (I think the Hawks would have to eat Petro's contract if they cut him, but stranger things have happened). Next preseason game is Sunday at Memphis.

looks like a pretty solid effort by Kito... here's hoping that earns him some more minutes in the next game because he's only gonna get better with more floor time.

Well, so much for Benson's time in Atlanta. They released him today: blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2012/10/11/atlanta-hawks-benson-muhammad-released/?cxntfid=blogs_hawksAlmost all the posters in the comments section are shocked at Benson's release. This is a colossal misjudgment and offers irrefutable evidence that Larry Drew is indeed a complete moron. Last year Drew wanted washed-up veterans on the roster ahead of Benson, and this year he's keeping Petro, who is honestly useless, ahead of Benson. (I also thought the presence of Danny Ferry as GM this year might help Benson's cause.) I will now root for Larry Drew to fail spectacularly at everything he ever tries in life from this point forward. That might be a slight exaggeration, but only a slight one. Ridiculous. The only upside may be that releasing Benson at this early stage, after a great summer league performance and a good showing last night, might help him get a shot with another NBA team. A legitimate shot, which he seems never to have gotten in Atlanta.
