Good work. I was starting to wonder what was up with Mondy.

With the announcement of two new 2012 signings and knowledge that Poches and Imami will (probably) redshirt, here's an updated roster/scholarship chart. Assuming most of the unknowns on this chart pan out, things are looking really good for the future. Depth at just about every position but point guard once Bass becomes a senior.

I would rather have Poches in there than Cush right now.

Who will be the backup PG behind Bass next season? Coach Kampe needs to recruit one, no? Maybe Drew Valentine can play the point. He does everything else well ... and we all know he was a stud high school QB.

Yea I'm also worried about our PG depth next year...can Duke Mondy play the point? I don't know if he was a PG or SG at Providence. Speaking of Mondy, won't we only have him for 1 year, not 2? He was a sophomore last year and I would assume is sitting out his junior year right now

He was a sophomore last year and I would assume is sitting out his junior year right now He has never transferred before so this is his redshirt year...similar to what Larry Wright and Reggie Hamilton did in the past. LLP was unique since he had transferred once before in the past and lost that year of eligibility last year while sitting out. He technically could have played two more years at Michigan (though they were going to list him as a senior if he had stayed last year---maybe one of the reasons he left).

Paul Kampe has a blog update about Bass/Poches here: opgrizzden.blogspot.com/2011/12/missing-backup-pg-pain-in-bass.htmlHere's one quote from it: Playing Poches Saturday means Bass isn't likely to return this season because the team had initially planned to red-shirt the guard from Hartland because of the logjam at guard. That option is no longer available to Kampe since Poches logged time Saturday. “Every team has injuries and has bad things happen to them and you play through them,” Kampe said. Bass collided with Blake Cushingberry in practice this week and the team says Bass is out indefinitely. So the future roster situation will look a bit different now that Poches has been activated. Something to consider: if Bass is indeed out for good, the team can *likely* apply for a medical hardship waiver. The rule as I recall it is that a player can play no more than 30% of the scheduled games before the halfway point of the season. Oakland has 31 scheduled games this year, and Bass has played in 9 games. 9/31 = 29%. So he is UNDER the threshold and should be approved for a medical hardship waiver, which would essentially make him a "medical redshirt" this year. He would then be a redshirt sophomore in 2012-13 and have that year plus two more years of eligibility.

Remember that time (last week) when we were a guard-heavy team?

Okay, pure speculation, and maybe just coincidence: Bass and Cush "collide," Bass injured, and then Cush off the team for "academics?" Something smells fishy. Just sayin'.
